“Visual stories told through the way your fingertips meet, windswept hair, stolen kisses and fleeting moments of euphoria”
The Sunchasing Visual Story Teller
Let me tell you a little about what makes me, me! I’m a country girl at heart, growing up on cattle properties in North Queensland, with more horses than a girl could ever dream of. Long days in the saddle, with the buzz of a helicopter hanging in the air is where I learnt about hard work, goodhearted people & the hidden beauties of the bush. I am now based near a small town called Mingela, halfway between Charters Towers and Townsville. I live between my parent’s horse & cattle property – ‘Grass Hut,’ and my fiance’s cattle property ‘Springview.’ By day, I am at Grass Hut, photographing newborns in my cosy studio, editing photos in an office that I share with one of my best friends (Mum) and my sausage dog, Cindi. You’ll often find me photographing beautiful people in the afternoon glow that our paddocks provide, or perhaps I’ll be capturing emotions in someone else’s much loved paddock. Some days, you’ll find me in the arena, loping down horses and other days you’ll find me branding calves in a yard full of brahman cows. When the last of the light has gone beyond the horizon, you can find me talking about all things helicopters, cattle, photography & camp drafting (oh and a little football) with Josh in our tiny cottage at Springview. I also have a slight addiction to fashion, and have quite the enviable closet.
My days are full of adventure & incredible stories and I would not have it any other way. This way of life has helped to shape who I am as an artist; the colours, style & inspiration within my photographs stems from this love of dusty sunsets, rainy wet seasons, and an unwavering love for animals. I’m not about stiff, boring or awkward poses, I’m about the laughter, the imperfections and the fun. Be you and you’ll have photographs to love for a lifetime.
I love to travel, from the dusty flats of Coonamble, to the floodplains of the Northern Territory, from the white sands of the Whitsundays and back down to the hustle and bustle of Sydney, there are love stories all over this world and I love nothing more than travelling to be apart of weddings where I come as the Photographer and leave as a good friend.
A wedding is not just a few hours of vows & cheesy smiles, to me it is the friends & family who have travelled extreme distances, the way your Dad brushes a tear from his eye when he sees his little girl in the white dress she always dreamt about, it is the three year old nephew standing in the aisle as you say I Do, the way your Nanna slow dances with you to a fast song and it is the way you look when you realise you are now husband & wife. I love to be apart of every moment in your wedding day, no matter how big or small.
People often ask me what I love photographing the most and for the longest time, I did not have an answer. Now I do. I love photographing love. Families, couples, newborns, weddings, maternity – it all stems from love.
I am so lucky to have discovered a life where my career is my passion. My style is a little bit of a mix of everything, giving a little direction where it is needed, to make sure you feel totally comfortable and then being able to step back and document the time exactly as it unfolds, capturing real, raw emotions in the warm, rich colours of life. Of course, the warm, afternoon sunlight has a special place in my heart and my lens; I will forever be chasing the sun. I like to be one hundred percent unique and individual, I have been known to push the boundaries to get epic photographs that will stand the test of time. If you think my love of golden light, animals, adventure & a damn good outfit sounds like you – then I would love to be apart of your story and cannot wait to hear from you.
